About Us

South Bend Latin Dance is a group of fun, talented and passionate Latin dancers who promote fun & lively social dancing opportunities in South Bend, Indiana and surrounding areas. We are most passionate about salsa, merengue, bachata, samba, and other Afro-Latin dances but also support other genres.

South Bend Latin Dance was founded by David Seymour, Joel Barrett, and Bridget Hardy in 2012, but is blessed with a community of contributors who do everything from teaching to organizing to generally sharpening the spirit of love and openness that defines our group.

Latin Wednesdays is our most regular and long-standing event. Currently, Latin Wednesdays take place every Wednesday at Ironhand Wine Bar at 1025 Northside Boulevard in South Bend. We begin at 7 PM with a roughly 20-minute beginners’ lesson (no partner, no coordination, no experience required!) followed by a 5-10 minute Master Moment, which is a move or tip for Intermediate/Advanced dancers. Other events are posted on our Facebook Events page. In the warmer months we often host outdoor events, sometimes we do holiday things, sometimes a visiting instructor from another city comes in–sky’s the limit! And we believe that there’s no limit to YOU and the moves YOU bring to dance and life. We embrace newcomers regardless of talent, awkwardness, whether you want to lead or follow, simply dance by yourself, or visit and enjoy the ambiance.

We take pride in the diversity of people who keep us vibrant by dancing regularly, welcoming new folks into the community with warmth, and always being willing to create more opportunities for Latin Dance in South Bend as we evolve together.

Dance lessons for beginners, as well as for more advanced master moments, are a wonderful way to learn and connect with South Bend Latin Dance on Wednesday Latin Dance Nights! 7:00pm – 7:30pm Dance Lesson; and 7:30pm – 10:00pm Open Dance Floor with our Latin Dance DJ! Join us Wednesdays from 7:00pm – 10:00pm — or whenever you’re available in that time range — at IronHand Wine Bar, near South Bend Farmer’s Market.
